How To Use
the KISS System
for Wound Documentation
The KISS System is a comprehensive solution for wound photography and medical documentation at the bedside. Our patented wound rulers and ring scales minimize subjectivity in wound photographs.

Create a detailed illustrative medical and forensic record with the KISS system. Reduce liability at your facility. Cut down on team miscommunications and improve patient care.
“The absence of a standardized methodology for wound photography leads to subpar documentation, which ultimately hinders patient care.”
– Advances in Skin & Wound Care Journal
We understand that camera positioning and scale placement can lead to inconsistencies. The KISS System standardizes the entire photographic process. Anyone can achieve high-quality wound photography, even with a simple, inexpensive point-and-shoot camera. Both healthcare and forensic settings use the KISS System. It’s accurate and effective in various professional environments.
Color-Coded Sizes

Wound photographs are taken from varying distances and are often out of focus. Our system’s color-coded rings provide unique size differentiation. Color-coded bars on our rulers and forensic scales clearly mark each centimeter. This ensures you can always determine precise measurements for accurate medical documentation.

Measurements Conform to the Curvature of the Body
The KISS System lets wound photographers focus entirely on capturing quality wound photographs. There’s no longer a need to simultaneously juggle a ruler and camera. Our skin-friendly adhesive lets you place the rulers and ring scales directly on the skin. This ensures they’re on the same plane as the wound for accurate measurements. As a result, the photographer can take quality photographs.

360 Degree Scales
The rings accurately show the true curvature of the body as seen in our wound measurement examples. The area scale maintains its scale no matter how curved the body is. precise measurements even on curves. For unprecedented accuracy, linear scales are strategically placed on all sides of the wound, both top and bottom.
Stick-figure
The stick-figure supplied on the ring ruler sheet ensures correct body alignment to prevent wound photographs from appearing upside down in the medical documentation.

Body Location Tabs
Body location tabs standardize nomenclature and reduce the amount of writing nurses need to do for wound documentation. In addition to the 12 standard body location tabs, we include two blank tabs. Your team can use these for any unlisted body locations, providing complete customization.
Wound Mapping Markers
The KISS System provides the indisputable visual evidence and precise wound location documentation you need to clearly establish “Present on Admission” (POA) for wounds in any clinical setting.

Map the body with the markers. Take pictures that include the surrounding anatomy to prove the wound existed at the of admission. If you have, for example, 30 observations, avoid taking 30 individual close-up pictures. Instead, take midrange pictures that show the wound within its anatomical context. Always include a close-up shot of the specific wound you’re treating.
This method transforms an hour-long assessment into just ~30 minutes, saving you significant time and money.
Tell the Wound’s Story, Supported by Evidence
Use the KISS System’s markers to present undeniable evidence. They allow you to accurately map each wound for clear documentation within medical records.
Say goodbye to misplaced photos and frustrating calls asking where the close-ups belong on the body. Our different black and white markers highlight unique wounds and patterns, providing clear contrast on various skin tones.
