Wound documentation is essential in healthcare, and the KISS System™ Wound Photo Rings make it easier and more accurate than ever. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use these simple and effective tools.
Easy-to-Use Wound Photo Rings
The KISS System Wound Photo Rings are color-coded by size, addressing common issues such as camera distance, positioning, and out-of-focus pictures.
Step 1: Measure the Wound
Begin by measuring the length, width, and depth of the wound. The KISS System includes a unique color-coded guide next to the ruler to help you pick the correct size ring.
Step 2: Select and Place the Ring
Choose the color-coded ring that is slightly larger than the wound. Peel the ring from its backing and place it around the wound. Each ring has a mild, removable adhesive that is latex-free and skin-friendly. Align the length and width on the ring with the measurements you took of the wound. Ensure there is space between the healthy skin and the wound for optimal documentation.
Step 3: Use the KISS Stick Figure
Place the KISS stick figure next to the wound, aligning it to indicate the 12 and 6 o’clock positions on the body. This helps maintain consistent orientation in your photographs.
Step 4: Fill Out the Note Label
Fill out the note label using a fine-tip permanent marker. Include the date, time, patient ID, your initials, and the wound measurements. If your facility has patient ID labels, you can place them over the ID location on the KISS note label.
Step 5: Attach Body Location Tabs
Attach the body location tabs to the note. These tabs help standardize the naming and save you from writing out the wound location.
Step 6: Take the Photo
You are now ready to take your photo. After photographing, remove the photo guide rings. They are single-use and should not remain on the patient.
The KISS System Wound Ruler
For linear and larger wounds, the KISS System Wound Ruler is an excellent tool. The custom color-coded ruler is perforated for easy customization.
Step 1: Select and Customize the Ruler
Choose a ruler size slightly larger than the wound. Tear along the perforated lines to the desired length. Remove the smaller bars along the length of the ruler.
Step 2: Apply the Ruler
Remove the ruler from the backing and apply it next to the wound, leaving space between the ruler and healthy skin.
Step 3: Use the KISS Stick Figure and Note Label
Place the KISS stick figure next to the wound, aligned properly. Fill out the note label with all relevant information and apply it next to the ruler.
Step 4: Take the Photo
You are ready to take your picture. After photographing, remove the ruler, note label, and stick figure. These are single-use items.
KISS System Wound Mapping Markers
Enhance your wound documentation with the KISS System Wound Mapping Markers, ideal for clinical and forensic settings.
Step 1: Apply the Markers
Place the numbered markers next to the wounds you want to document. These markers are latex-free and skin-friendly.
Step 2: Document Wounds
Use the numbers on the markers to document wounds on the body diagram, ensuring each wound is correctly identified.
Step 3: Take the Photos
Photograph the wounds, ensuring you capture each marker. The different colors help highlight unique wounds and patterns.
Step 4: Remove the Markers
After photographing, remove the markers. They are single-use and should not remain on the patient.
